Pilonidal Sinus Excision Operation
Pilonidal Sinus Excision Operation
Description
A Pilonidal Sinus is a common wound that usually happens when ingrown hair causes an infection. This mostly happens at the bottom of the spine, just above the anus.
Hairs can grow in your natal cleft, or loose hairs can fall and collect in your natal cleft. These hairs carry bacteria, which can cause inflammation and infection. An abscess can form or the pus can drain through a tunnel (sinus) out to your skin.
This operation opens and removes this infected tract.
